ABOUT US

Warialda Busy Bee Committee Function
• To promote the Rent a Farmhouse Scheme within the
   Warialda and surrounding community.
• To source suitable dwellings from Shire residents and call
   for applications from potential renters.
• To review the rental applications in consultation with the
dwelling owners and negotiate the rental agreements.
• To seek opportunities to promote the growth of Warialda.

The Busy Bees - Warialda Community Group was started by Wendy Mayne following a crisis meeting of the Warialda Public School P & A regarding the potential loss of their full time principal due to government student number guidelines.

The solution was obvious. Warialda needed more families. Following the success of Cumnock's Rent a Farmhouse project set up by Christine Weston, Wendy pulled together a group of like-minded community members to investigate replicating the project in Warialda.

Wendy and fellow Busy Bee, Mikala Reardon, along with a delegation from the Gwydir Shire Council travelled to Cumnock to meet with the local Progress Association, who explained just how their project worked.

Just days later, a Community Meeting was held in Warialda, the 'Rent a Country Home' project was  been born! Not only will new families get a home - but a enthusiastic and happy community as well.
