Davis Starlifter

Warialda company featured at world’s largest agricultural expo

19th February 2007

The Davis Starlifter, manufactured by Warialda Engineering and Welding, was one of only two Australian products selected for special exposure at the 2007 World Ag Expo held in California this month.

The Davis Starlifter was one of 40 products included in the Featured New Product program at the Expo, which is the world's largest agricultural and farming equipment exhibition in the world.

The Featured New Products were chosen by a panel of American farmers and agribusiness professionals for their innovative and unique qualities.

The Starlifter was invented by Mick Davis, owner of Warialda Engineering, an award-winning Indigenous company. It is a dual purpose tool designed to safely lift logs off the ground to a stable position for a clear cut that avoids chainsaw damage, and for removing or adjusting steel posts.

Warialda Engineering was one of nine NSW companies assisted by the Department of State and Regional Development to showcase their products to international buyers at World Ag Expo.

The other participating companies' products include biological fertiliser, hydraulic post drivers, organic liquid insecticide, rhizobium inoculator, radio frequency tags for agricultural applications, industry training, software and hardware for precision agricultural aircraft spraying, and the Royal Easter Show and the Sydney Showgrounds.

The World Ag Expo, now in its 40th year, was expected to attract more than 1600 exhibitors and 100,000 visitors from 66 countries.

Participation in World Ag Expo is part of the DSRD's program of trade missions and international trade exhibitions which help NSW companies to expand by winning business overseas.
