Bingara
Mrs S. Rose ran a boarding residence in Finch Street by August 1892 and by March 1899 Mrs C. Bennett conducted the boarding house in Finch Street, Bingara near the bridge. Mrs Horne later occupied the house.
Peters and Co.’s Guest House with its red roof, green shelters and cover boards was constructed in 1934 and situated opposite the Oddfellows Hall. Pitter and Co. also renovated the building that year.
J. Smith’s Royal Boarding House was enlarged and renovated by May 1934.
Warialda
W. Parker opened a new boarding house in Market Street in May 1900. By February 1902, A. Collins had taken over the Boarding House and American Bar from J. Rae. Mrs Hart operated a boarding house in Hope Street, Warialda opposite Discher’s Store, by May 1918 and was still there in June 1921. The Central Boarding House situated opposite Discher’s Store in Hope Street, Warialda operated during the 1920s and another boarding house, ‘Arlington’ was operating in February 1932.

The local newspaper always reported the local Licensing Court and the numerous transfers of licences. Phifer; ‘White Swan Hotel’, Warialda- S.G. Kerrigan; ‘Royal Hotel’, Warialda- William Scutt and ‘Coolatai Hotel’- Francis Marshall
The thematic history of hotels reveals a complex story of owners, investors and licensees. To this day, some of the more significant heritage buildings in country towns are the hotels. Many have undergone extensive changes and remodelling over the years but all of them ‘reveal a story’.
