State Forests

State Forests identified by the Geographical Names Board of NSW and on Parish Maps- Benbraggie State Forest- Situated in County Murchison, Parish Derra Derra; located twelve kilometres west of Bingara; dedicated 14 February and assigned by the Geographic Names Board on 27 November 1992. The name comes from a long established local property.
- Bingara State Forest- Situated in County Murchison, Parish Molroy; state forest no. 859 with an area of 565.5 hectares; assigned 11 May 1979. According to Reed (1967), the name is an Aboriginal word meaning creek. Appleton (1992), states that it is probably an Aboriginal word but it certainly does not mean creek.3 Dedicated 20 May 1938.
- Bullala State Forest- Situated in County Burnett, Parish Bullala; state forest no. 406 with an area of 1295 hectares; assigned 15 June 1979. Dedicated 13 April 1917.
- Daffeys Creek State Forest- Situated in County Murchison, Parish Dingo; state forest no. 1057 of 1066 hectares about two kilometres SW of Nooringa T.S. and about 8 kilometres W by Se of Emu Hills; assigned 25 May 1990. The state forest traverses Daffeys Creek.
- Gunyerwarildi State Forest- Situated in County Burnett, Parish Abercrombie; state forest no. 705 with an area of 303.5 hectares; assigned 9 May 1980.
- Horseshoe Bend State Forest- Situated in County Murchison, Parish Bangheet; state forest about 24 kilometres E of Terry Hie Hie and about 29 kilometres NE by E of Berrigal; assigned 19 June 1987.
- Mehi State Forest- Situated in County Murchison, Parish Evans; state forest no. 478 with an area of 1,214 hectares; assigned 11 May 1979. Dedicated 8 June 1917.
- Mount Kaputar State Forest- Situated in County Murchison, Parish Rusden; located along the north east slopes of the Nandewar Range extending along the range for 1.5 kilometres north of Mount Kaputar for 2.5 kilometres south of Mount Kaputar; state forest no. 20 of 11,932 acres; assigned 22 September 1967.
- Munro State Forest- Situated in County Murchison, Parish Furber; state forest no. 1004 with an area of 1,187 hectares; assigned 21 July 1978.
- Murchison State Forest- Situated in County Murchison, Parish; state forest no. 317 with an area of 1,518 hectares; assigned 11 May 1979.
- Sepoy State Forest- Situated in County Murchison, Parish Mehi; state forest no. 733 with an area of 1,214 hectares; assigned 11 May 1979. Dedicated 30 April 1920.
- Stonehenge State Forest- Situated in County Burnett, Parish Warialda; state forest no. 617 with an area of 546 hectares; assigned 9 March 1979. Dedicated 13 July 1917.
- Strathmore State Forest- Situated County Burnett, Parish Strathmore; state forest no. 516 with an area of 388.5 hectares; assigned 15 June 1979.
- Stuart State Forest- Situated County Burnett, Parish Stuart; state forest no. 636 with an area of 125 hectares; assigned 9 May 1980.
- Yallaroi State Forest- Situated County Burnett, Parish Russell. Dedicated 24 December 1930 and extended 10 July 1936.
- Warialda State Forest- Situated County Burnett, Parish Adams; state forest no. 417 with an area of 3546 hectares; assigned 9 April 1979. Dedicated 4 May 1917 and part 2 was proclaimed on 8 August 1941.
