Warialda Rugby League Football Club

The Warialda Rugby League Football Club celebrated the 2008 Centenary of Rugby League with the publication of a History of the club which can be purchased from the Warialda Gwydir Shire Council Office in Hope Street, Warialda for twenty dollars.

 

The book features a history of the club from as far back as 1879 when the population of Warialda was little more than 150. It also includes past presidents, memories, footballing families, esteemed players who went on the have successful football careers, local identities, premierships, photos and the 2008 Teams of the Century.

Many of the football cups won by Warialda in the last 100 years are on display at the Warialda Heritage and Visitor Information Centre located in Hope Street, Warialda. Admission is free and the Centre also houses the Wells Gem and Mineral Collection and Historical Display. It is well worth a visit.

A monument to celebrate the Centenary of Rugby League was also erected at the Recreation Ground in Holden Street, Warialda which features a sculptured wombat by local artist Kerry Cannon, the plaque presented to the Club for the Centenary and pavers of all the coaches and premierships of the club.
